Administrative correspondence regarding airports, 1934-1973.

The Ala. Dept. of Aeronautics, formerly called the Ala. Aviation Commission, is charged with the regulation of public airports and airstrips in the State of Ala. The Dept. oversees development of airports, conducts inspections, issues regulations and generally supervises airport operation and development in the state. These files consist almost exclusively of correspondence between the Dept. and the airport owners/operators/developers, and persons and organizations interested in the airport. The correspondence concerns a wide variety of topics from land acquisition to construction of facilities to safety violations.
